ACADEMIC PROJECTS BY TOM HOLMÉN

Dissertations

This is about a group of Åbo Akademi scholars active in historical Jesus research. The group has been known as the Åbo Akademi Historical Jesus Workshop. At the start of year 2015 the group’s name changed from “Workshop” to “Research group”. Thus, HJW is now HJR. I will so far preserve the old links on this site. Here is the institutional web page of the group.

Some doctoral dissertations have sprung from the HJW goup:

– Vesa Ollilainen:
Jesus and the Parable of the Prodigal Son (Turku/Åbo: Åbo Akademi Press, 2008)
– Hiroaki Yoshimura:
Did Jesus Cite Isa 6:9-10? Jesus’ Saying in Mark 4:11-12 and the Isaianic Idea of Hardening and Remnant (Turku/Åbo: Åbo Akademi Press, 2010)
– Matti Kankaanniemi:
The Guards of the Tomb (Matt 27:62-66 and 28:11-15): Matthew’s Apologetic Legend Revisited (Turku/Åbo: Åbo Akademi Press, 2010)
– Juho Sankamo:
Jesus and the Gentiles (Turku/Åbo: Åbo Akademi Press, 2012)

Before the commencing of the group, there were already several doctoral theses on the historical Jesus that had been defended at the Åbo Akademi exegetical department:

– Ville Auvinen:
Jesus’ Teaching on Prayer (Turku/Åbo: Åbo Akademi Press, 2003)
– Jari Laaksonen:
Jesus und das Land : das Gelobte Land in der Verkündigung Jesu (Turku/Åbo: Åbo Akademi Press, 2002)
